Derrick Hughley was born January 1, 1970 to Thelma Hughley and Doyal Criswell, Jr. in St. Louis, Missouri at City Hospital No.1. He attended St. Louis Public Schools. Derrick was the fourth out of six children. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.
Derrick was also known as “Duck” to family and friends and “Marquis” as his playful alias.
Duck confessed to a hope in Christ at an early age. He was loving and devoted to family and friends. If anyone ever needed a spare hand, Duck would be there no matter family, friend, neighbors or strangers Duck would be there.
Duck loved to dance, play music, tell jokes and be playful. Anything to get a laugh and of course his wardrobe to be top notch and he loved playing his harmonica, which he played harmonica with a Blues Singer Double O.
Duck's suffering ended July 2, 2018 with his health deteriorating at Kendrick Hospital then being rushed to Barnes Hospital with family by his side.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving mother, Thelma Coffee (Walter); his loving father, Doyal Criswell, Jr.; brothers, Doyal (Tonya), Darryl (Pam), Dwayne (Amber) and Damon; sister, Deanna; stepbrothers; stepsisters; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, beloved friends and most of all his side kick, Carl Turner and longtime friend, Michelle Davey.
